The novel opens with a terrifying scenario: two armed men storm the police station in Heartsdale, opening fire and taking hostages. Among those trapped inside are Police Chief Jeffrey Tolliver, who is critically wounded, Medical Examiner Sara Linton, and a group of elementary school children on a field trip. Great story and brilliantly written. Not much more that I can say (without spoiling it) other than it is another great story.
