Early Life and Acting Career:
La Plante trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA) and began her career as an actress, performing under the name Lynda Marchal. She has also written the Anna Travis novels, beginning with Above Suspicion (2004), which was later adapted for television.
Her writing is characterized by authenticity, stemming from her detailed research and close collaboration with police forces and forensic experts. This meticulous approach has earned her a reputation for accuracy and realism in crime fiction.

La Plante has received numerous awards and honours, including the CBE (Commander of the Order of the British Empire) in 2008 for services to literature, drama, and charity.
